Park Drive, the main entrance into Lehigh Parkway, is closed indefinitely after the collapse of a retaining wall on Saturday, June 19, and as a result vehicle traffic in the parkway is restricted to one way.
Pennoni Associates has been retained on an emergency basis to develop plans to shore-up, repair and reconstruct the wall. The total project which will include design is expected to take several months.
The trail adjacent to the Little Lehigh Creek is also closed until further notice.
Vehicle traffic in Lehigh Parkway is now one way only entering at the Police Academy. A detour has been set-up from the Park Drive entrance. Vehicles should follow south on Jefferson Street and merge onto Lehigh Street, making a right onto Vultee Street, right on Grammes Road, left on Lehigh Parkway South, right onto the Police Academy entrance and follow the signs in the park.
